Programme

The festival will take place from 10th June – 13th June 2016 and features choirs of all traditions and nationalities who have come together for a weekend of non-competitive singing in spectacular venues around Limerick City & County. Our fabulous concerts, which are open to the public, will take place in St Mary’s Cathedral, University Concert Hall and Holy Trinity Abbey Church in Adare.

LIMERICK SINGS – OPENING CONCERT

FRIDAY 10TH JUNE 2016, 8:00PM

VENUE: REDEMPTORIST CHURCH

Due to high demand the opening concert of the 2016 Limerick Sings Festival has been moved from St Mary’s Cathedral to the Redemptorist Church and will feature performances by local, national and international choirs. The choirs will perform a diverse programme including traditional and folk songs as well as works by Palestrina, Elgar and J.S. Bach.

Choirs: Aragon High School, Cór Cois Abhann, Granbury High School Choir, Korena Spontana, Napa Valley College, Presentation High School, Bella Voce, Resounding Achord, San Jose State University Choraliers, Voices of Limerick & West Valley College.

LIMERICK SINGS – GALA CONCERT

SATURDAY 11TH JUNE 2016, 8:00PM

VENUE: UNIVERSITY CONCERT HALL

Enjoy a delightful programme at the 2016 Limerick Sings Gala Concert, including Shakespeare in Song by the New Dublin Voices, Jenkins’ The Armed Man by Limerick Choral Union, as well as a joint performance of Haydn’s Lord Nelson Mass by several visiting choirs from the USA, accompanied by Limerick Sinfonia.

Holy Trinity Abbey Church, Adare

Limerick Sings Sunday Proms, the final concert of the 2016 Limerick Sings Festival, will feature a light, afternoon programme performed by local and visiting choirs, including folk, traditional and gospel songs, as well as favourites by Billy Joel and ABBA.
