Programme

Limerick Sings International Choral Festival invites choirs of all traditions and nationalities to come together for a weekend of non-competitive singing in spectacular venues featuring King John’s Castle, St Mary’s Cathedral and University Concert Hall, Limerick. The festival will take place from 26th June – 29th June 2015. The programme for the festival is as follows:

Friday, June 26th
Arrival of choirs throughout the day at the various accommodations. Choirs will be provided with a package which will include a city map and all information regarding the programme for the weekend.
6pm The opening of Limerick Sings Festival and a welcome reception will take place in King John’s Castle in Limerick City
with an opportunity for choirs to sing one piece impromptu if they wish
8pm                 Campus Option: Supper in the Pavilion Restaurant on campus with an evening of Irish Dance, Music and Song with local choristers invited. (additional cost)

 

Saturday, June 27th
7.30am          Dawn chorus and walk on the Living Bridge at University of Limerick campus
8.30am Breakfast in your accommodation
9.30-1pm Experience the lively atmosphere of Limerick’s Saturday market
11am Option of walking tour of Limerick with visits to the Hunt Museum and tour of King John’s Castle arranged at group rate on request.Half day or full day tours to local areas of interest on request such as Adare Village, Bunratty Castle & Folk Park or the seaside towns of Kilkee or Lahinch
4-6pm Afternoon rehearsal for performance in St Mary’s Cathedral
6-7.30pm Dinner in town in local restaurants or on campus if required (additional cost)
8.00pm Celebratory Concert at St Mary’s Cathedral with selected choirs

10.30pm      Festival Club at Savoy Hotel with local choristers for fun and a singsong

 

Sunday, June 28th
9am Early morning walk around the spectacular campus of the University of Limerick, with tour of the Art Collections and complimentary coffee in Plassey House.
10.30am Rehearsal for afternoon Choral concert of massed choirs in UCH. Lunch options arranged on request
3pm Choral Summer Prom Concert featuring all choirs in a variety of song at UCH

Monday, June 29th
  • Optional tours as requested such as Kilkenny or Cork City, the Wild Atlantic Way including Cliff of Moher, Dingle Peninsula, Lakes of Killarney, Galway and Connemara.
  • Choirs depart
  • Slán abhaile! (Safe home)
