Limerick Sings International Choral Festival 2016 will take place from 10th - 13th June 2016. Come join us for a great fun weekend of singing, sightseeing and entertainment! Limerick Sings invites you and your choir to its 4th International Choral Festival. The festival extends a warm welcome to choirs of all traditions and nationalities to come together for a weekend of festive non-competitive singing in spectacular venues including St Mary's Cathedral, the University Concert Hall Limerick and St Flannan's Cathedral, Killaloe. Limerick has a long and very fine tradition of choral, opera and musical theatre. The festival weekend is designed to offer choirs the opportunity to sing in some of Ireland's finest music venues in the company of choristers from other countries and traditions of singing. It also offers a social programme to entertain you and provide a chance to meet your local Irish hosts from Limerick choirs. The full brochure will be available soon.
What you said....
Our Cork-based choir, Cor Cois Abhann, attended this non-competitive Choral Festival in June 2013 and would highly recommend it to any choir wanting a fun filled weekend of singing. We decided on "Limerick Sings" as it looked as if it had enough structure combined with free time, to suit us.
We were not disappointed. The first performance was at the Hunt Museum where we sang to a small and appreciative audience followed by a performance that evening at St Mary's- a beautiful cathedral in the centre of Limerick. The festival club which followed at The Savoy Hotel, provided a great opportunity to relax, meet other choirs and sing late into the night.
Next day, we sang at the UL concert hall both as individual choirs and en masse. This was a great experience and was followed by a bbq attended by all with some select singing afterwards!
We were very impressed by the excellent organisation and stage management at the venues. The pre-organisation and bus pick-ups were great and our hotel was a delight and afforded us great freedom
