OPENING GALA CONCERT - M’ANAM

FRIDAY 7TH JUNE, 7.30PM - UNIVERSITY CONCERT HALL
The Limerick Sings International Choral Festival was delighted to welcome M’ANAM as the 2025 guest vocal ensemble.

M'ANAM ("My Soul" in the Irish language), is an eight voice group of men based in Iceland and Ireland that combines the shared heritages of these two ancient cultures.

Their music fuses the words of Icelandic and Irish writers - ancient texts from the Viking Hávamál and medieval Irish poets sit alongside contemporary songs and music created by Irish composer Michael McGlynn. M'ANAM's music and performances evoke landscapes of sound rooted in the dramatic natural landscapes of both countries.

Outdoor Chorus
with
BOB CHILCOTT

SATURDAY 7TH JUNE, 8.45AM - UNIVERSITY CONCERT HALL & CLIFFS OF MOHER
Over 200 singers enjoyed a fun rehearsal/workshop in University Concert Hall, before performing
together, led by one of the world’s best known choral composers, Bob Chilcott, at the stunning Cliffs of Moher.

The Outdoor Chorus choir performed Bob’s famous arrangement of Billy Joel’s And So it Goes, which was greatly enjoyed by both singers and spectators.

This was a unique opportunity for choirs and individual singers to work with the renowned composer/conductors,
as well as to perform against the beautiful backdrop of the Cliffs!

Bob Chilcott has enjoyed a lifelong association with choral music, as a chorister and choral scholar in the choir of King’s College, Cambridge, and as a member of the King’s Singers.  He became a full-time composer and conductor in 1997, and has composed a large catalogue of choral music which is published by Oxford University Press.

Bob has directed choirs in more than 30 countries worldwide and conducts many thousands of amateur singers in a continuing series of Singing Days. Since 2002 he has been Principal Guest Conductor of the BBC Singers
and since 2019 Principal Conductor of Birmingham University Singers.
